For all her boundless energy, cheeky Boxer grins, and zest for life, Disney’s story hasn’t been without its struggles. At just 4 years and 6 months old, she’s already overcome more than most dogs face in a lifetime. But if there’s one thing that defines Disney beyond her goofy, loving nature — it’s resilience.
Early Struggles: A Tough Start
Disney’s challenges began early when she underwent double patella surgery, a major procedure to correct issues with her kneecaps. It wasn’t an easy time — recovery required patience, physiotherapy, and a lot of love. But Disney, true to form, faced it all with a brave heart, learning to trust the healing process and leaning on her family every step of the way.
A Setback in August
Just when things seemed to be stabilizing, August brought a heart-breaking turn. Disney started limping again. It wasn’t the usual tiredness after a long walk — something deeper was wrong. X-rays confirmed what no dog owner wants to hear: cruciate ligament issues, hip dysplasia, and spondylosis of the spine. These are big words for a little soul, and bigger still for a family already so devoted to her care.
But they didn’t give up. And neither did Disney.
September Surgery & The Road to Recovery

In September, she bravely underwent surgery to repair the damaged cruciate ligament. What followed was an intense and structured 12-week rehabilitation journey — a time that tested her spirit, her patience, and the incredible bond she shares with her owner.

Recovery meant strict rest, followed by a carefully managed routine of professional physiotherapy and at-home care. At around six weeks, she began hydrotherapy — paddling in warm water, slowly rebuilding strength and balance. At home, her owner became a full-time rehab coach, using hot water bottles, pulse magnetic therapy, and wobble cushions to support muscle engagement and pain relief.
Throughout it all, acupuncture was introduced — not only to support her post-surgery healing, but to ease the strain on her hips and spine. It became a vital tool in her pain management plan, and one Disney visibly began to respond to.
Discharged — But Not Done

Eventually, Disney was discharged from formal physiotherapy, a milestone that felt nothing short of victorious. But the work didn’t stop there.
Today, she continues with monthly hydrotherapy to maintain her muscle strength and mobility, and acupuncture sessions to help manage any discomfort that creeps in from her spine or hips.
Her story is now one of maintenance, mindfulness, and joy — with every swim, stretch, and acupuncture needle bringing her closer to her best self.
Living Her Best Life Again
Recently, Disney got to do what she loves most — swimming in the lake, splashing freely, her face lit up with happiness. It wasn’t just a holiday; it was a celebration of everything she’s overcome. Watching her wade into the water, you’d never guess the challenges her body has faced. You’d only see a dog full of life, wagging, paddling, and making the most of every moment.
From surgery to swimming, from pain to play — Disney’s story is one of unshakable spirit.
